Well I Guess it got Bad Again

Advertisements

Thursday, November 19th, Dr. Bonnie Henry had announced at about 3pm that indoor social gathering are banned. Masks are now mandatory indoor everywhere. I guess it got bad again, and that kind of sucks. However, this will not be the end, not for me anyway. Being Thursday, I’ll have to see how it gets for Tuesday. That’s when I post next anyway.

Pardon the blurry picture. But Shadow keeps me sane and everyone needs more of him

So far today, being Friday, nothing bad has happened to us. “Us” being my boss and I, since we both worked Friday. Was very much “business as usual” but everyone wore their masks. A couple weeks ago, people were asking how I felt about wearing a mask. It’s definitely been weird with how fast my province went to shit. My lifestyle doesn’t change with everything happening though, since I only visit my boyfriend and go to work. Everyone else in my life lives with me, or I work with them so…

Saturday, my “sit by myself at work day” day. I’ll share updates as it goes I guess? Some fun plans for today, I’m going to start the new Legend of Zelda today hopefully. Age of Calamity is going to be so hype! During my work day though, the Destiny 2 new raid has gone live. Watching the boyfriend and his raid team go for worlds first! I have zero idea as to what’s going on, but I hope he gets it!
Not first in the world, but was still a fun stream to crash!

Sunday, as you can guess, I stayed in. Watching more of The Boys and The Mandalorian mostly. It’s not worth it to go out right now. Normally I’d be getting ready for coffee or something for Monday with some friends, but video calls are probably the way to go for now.
Monday so far has been rough. Woke up with a migraine. My amazing boyfriend is making me a fancy coffee and hot cocoa drink thingy. Let’s hope this headache leaves me alone with some Advil…
IT LEFT! Oh thank the gods, my head doesn’t hurt! Going home now that I can actually function, hopefully I’ll have energy to clean my room up.

Tuesday is a Tuesday is a Tuesday. Work is quiet, but my drivers are keeping me entertained with their “opinions” about wearing masks. Since it’s almost lunch time, I’m debating on what to order today… But other than that, not a whole lot has changed with my lifestyle and the almost lockdown we’re in. I say that, now that work is picking up it’s a mess. We follow different regulations than other businesses, until we’re told we have to wear masks, we don’t actually have to. That, as you can imagine, really pisses some people off, and now I’ve had about a dozen calls with complaints. Woo… Love my job.

Am I stealing my friends pictures again? Yep

Anyway, that’s it for today as I want to eat my food and forget people exist for awhile. Want a fun song to listen to? Thanks for stopping by, and be safe out there!

Holy Frick Retail

Advertisements

Man, I am over retail. I know I’ve said that like four hundred times, but I am so over it. Customers, mega corps, and having a boss… Work is just not worth the stress that it gives you. Relax Deryn, you’re just stressed... I don’t know if it’s the pandemic or people are actually dumb, but my god. With everything getting bad again, I feel like I’m losing my mind. And because the company I work for is what it is, I don’t speak on behalf of the company. These thoughts are mine and I hate people most of the time…

Stole more pictures from my friend overseas!

We have plexiglass between us and the customers right now, and yet people don’t understand that. My boss and I have been running into interesting arguments of sorts with almost everyone. There’s been too many instances where people have straight up pushed the glass off my counters. I understand you’re lazy, but please don’t lean on the counter. The sanitizer smells terrible and if you touch anything I have to spray it. And I don’t get why people just refuse to listen to me.

Right now people are either on edge, or just don’t care about anyone. Man, I hate dealing with arrogant people and all their unnecessary crap. There’s signs all over my store asking people to not touch shit, but of course, no one in the world can read. We’re working on it, but holy frick, and asking anyone to stop touching anything in my store is impossible. It becomes a fight not worth having.

Ranting isn’t my favourite thing to do, but thank you for coming along with me today! I just don’t understand why people can’t be kind. I was talking to my boss about getting a raise, and my lovely roommate chimed in with a really good piece of advice. “why invest my time into a career I’m not passionate about when I could invest my time into what I really want to do.” I can’t thank her enough for being in my life.

But, that’s all I have for today, as you can tell, I’m almost an hour late today. My bad... Thanks for stopping by, adn be safe out there!

Retail Customers

Advertisements

Since coming back to this job, some of my old regulars have discovered that I’m back. That’s not a bad thing at all, it’s actually kind of cute. I never really noticed how much of an impact I leave on my customers. Or I guess also the impact they have on me. Plus, some of the new people I’ve had the opportunity of meeting has been amazing! Unfortunately there’s a few yet I have to see that I actually miss still.

I have an interesting client who before I left, was in the middle of getting custody of her grandson. She’s a nice lady with a great sense of humor and all things considered, a very positive woman. I just got to meet the grandson and I have a feeling, even though a huge piece of his family is messed up, he’ll do great.

There’s a client I haven’t seen yet. When I first met him, he was learning Hebrew and wanted it on his phone. He’s an interesting fellow who’s cancer came back. His wife comes in sometimes with questions about her phone, and I always try to make sure to say I miss them and am wishing the best. An odd guy for sure, but definitely a friendly face who was always kind and full of stories.

I’ve had a couple a friends come in to get new phones now too. Friends instead of customers is an interesting difference in sales. The need to still be somewhat professional but also changing your language and being more casual is how I prefer to sell. I’m a social person and enjoy making friends during my conversations.

Homemade and super sexy dinner ’cause I have no pictures for today

Being back at work has been great. I really appreciate all of the lovely, and sometimes total trash, people I get to see every day. Hopefully with the way things are going, I have the holiday season, and then I can start looking at profits on this blog and such again. So stay tuned for that update! Otherwise, that’s it for today! Be safe out there!

The Past Few Days

Advertisements

Wow, I work a lot when I actually try. I’ve been putting the extra hours, hence my post where I was complaining, as I do. And even though I’ve been working my ass off, I still have another week of extreme hours before I’m free. I enjoy what I do though, so I can’t complain too much. I still have my shift today, tomorrow, and Saturday to get through before I’m done for the week.

My buddy went for a nice walk. He got some pictures for me!

Tuesday was like any other Tuesday. Answering the phones for twelve, long, hours with a hint of paperwork to spice the day up. Cab drivers are such funny humans, and honestly so are customers. I get the best complaints, don’t worry because I have examples. The second one is a little long, sorry in advance.

“It’s be there in just a few minutes,” this is me talking.
“A few? Like five or fifteen?” That’s a fair question.
“Less than five, I have someone nearby,” we’re efficient.
“That’s too long, I’m calling someone else.”
Interactions like this leave me making ??? an actual expression.

“I’d like to file a complaint,” calls that start with this are just … fun …
“Of course, what is your complaint?”
“Your driver helped my mother out of your cab,” this caught me off guard. “That breaks the ‘social distancing’ that’s been put in place!”
“So, let me get this straight,” because I was so confused, “you’re upset, because my cab driver helped an older and probably feeble customer out of their cab instead of letting them risk breaking something like a hip getting out of a high up vehicle?”
“Well yes, he got right up next to my mother!”
“And was doing his job? I’m sorry but I don’t quite understand why you’re upset. I understand social distancing, but older customers are at a real risk of hurting themselves. My driver helped a customer out of his cab. I don’t know what you want me to tell you,” what does one even say to that?
“I’m going to sue you guys for this,” angry customer is angry…

England is so pretty! I miss it so much!

Wednesday was definitely more fun. All of the bosses were in the office, and they’re a lot of fun. In my office, we’re a big family of total dorks. Humor and a hint of bullying (like siblings, I promise), this office is fun to be in. I had piles of paperwork that the front office needed help with too. All in all, I was busy all day.

Like, Look at it!

Today, or Thursday depending on when you read this, so far has been quiet. My phone hasn’t been ringing much, the bosses are not here yet, and my paperwork is pretty much done. I’m low key watching League of Legends videos while reminiscing about England. It’s not even noon yet though, so we’ll see how the day goes.

I’ve got to go where ever this is

That’s all I’ve got for today though! Y’all are amazing and I hope you’re being safe! We’ll talk again soon! Check out my Instagram and Twitter until then!
