The Best Few Days

Advertisements

I spent a few days with friends and family, not paying attention to social media or the world really, and enjoying the company for my birthday. I stayed with the boyfriend for a couple days to start everything off. Most of our weekend was watching TV, which I’ll have a separate post for, but it’s more than that. Homemade meals, quality time, and getting overly spoiled, I had a great weekend. Turning twenty-three was so special! Before I met up with him, my lovely roommate had to spoil me first.

Boyfriend took this picture, and yes I totally am using it

Starting with my lovely wife*, we got home from work about 6:30ish. *I call my roommate my wife. It’s a thing we’ve been doing forever now. Presents, a new hair colour and some needed bonding started my weekend off strong. I’m currently a red head with a new Little Mermaid backpack to match! Mind you the hair was a last minute “we should do this” kind of thing. There was more with the backpack, but that’s for me. From there, my dad offered to drive me to the boyfriends place since it’s getting cold and snowing now.

He made an amazing dinner! Chicken stuffed with .. fancy cheese, ham, and some other goodies (I honestly forgot everything that he used) and wrapped in prosciutto with veggies and pasta! Dang, thinking back I was, well am, so spoiled! I should have taken a picture of it! From there, caught up on the Mandalorian. We’ve started The Boys now too, and I have a new headset and microphone to use! The comfort of spending time with someone who enjoys my company and makes me feel safe is just, amazing. I’m a sap, I know, but he’s just, the best! Oh, and I had a frittata which is super yummy. I will never get tired of his cooking.

Outside my window this morning

Getting home Monday, since I stayed there for two days, my dad and I spent some time together. And now I can make my own London Fog’s too which is cool. They’re my favourite latte, and he got me a milk frother. I spend an unholy amount of money on them, especially working next to a Tim Hortons. Milk, vanilla syrup, earl grey tea and a bit of water makes the most amazing drink ever! We also got to see New Mutants which is an interesting movie. I’ll write more on that later.

My great friend Will took this one. England is less snowy than here

I’m not the kind of person who needs a lot for holidays or birthdays, the experiences and time spent with the people I care about is the best part of my life. I can’t thank the people around me enough for being there. Since I didn’t post yesterday, expect that tomorrow! Updates from The Mandalorian, The Boys, New Mutants and gaming! Those kitty headphones from Razer I loved are now mine! I spent a good hour making them glow pink too! Pictures of my setup will go live eventually. But, that’s all I have for today, thanks for stopping by! Be safe and warm out there if you live near me!

Going Back on Lockdown

Advertisements

Depending on where you are, life is getting complicated again. My local news site has been sharing some sad stuff about the schools around here. Children are known for carrying all sorts of diseases, and that’s starting to really show. In my local area, there’s been a couple schools now with new cases. If everything gets bad again, we’ll have to go back into lockdown. There are definitely perks and some real downsides to being back under voluntary house arrest.

Last time we were on lockdown, we did so much hiking! And I would love to get back on that train as I was in good shape and getting amazing pictures! I just got my replacement headphones in the mail too. I claimed my warranty so I can hike and walk around more. Hiking is just, so much fun and really good for the body. With snow coming soon, I’ll get so many beautiful pictures! Who needs a gym when you live next to a mountain?

Don’t mind the roommate

My mental health peaked so hard during lockdown! Although, I’ve made real progress over the past few months. Finances too, lockdown makes money saving so easy! With everywhere being closed it’s almost impossible to go out to buy food after all. Midna is also 100% a fan of lockdowns. More walks, and both mums being around all day, it’s a dream come true for her! Not the cats though, they still hate everything.

If, or I guess when, lockdown happens, we’ll see how it goes. I’m not worrying either way. As far as I’m concerned, life is great. Side note, no post on Monday as it’s my birthday! I’m going to be busy the whole weekend. Maybe Wednesday I’ll have a filler post. Being a holiday I should be able to make that work. Anyway, that’s all I have for today. Talk soon, and be safe out there!

Halloween in 2020

Advertisements

I have to work today. Guess who’s going in full costume!! Spoiler, it’s me! Oh I am so excited! Spirit Halloween is a great store that I spent way too much money at this year. I’ve got vampire fangs, a full pirate costume, and an inflated ego all ready to go. My boots are 100% impractical, and this waist belt thing is putting in WORK! I’m living for it.

Dad wants breakfast, so first stop is there. Man, this hat is massive! Every time I think about my hat I start laughing. I’m so excited! The lovely people there loved my costume. I’m supposed to “YAARRR” each person I talk to apparently. My dad wants me to report back on that, but I don’t think I will. Just sounds like it’ll kill my voice…

Now that I’m at work, I’ve stuck my nametag to my coat. I lowkey look dorky, but I feel awesome in this costume. I also forgot my fangs at home, although I talk better without them, and I work in sales. Being able to talk (or I guess communicate) is kind of my job. So far, work is quiet. I’m sitting here watching YouTube videos, writing this. Tonight is where the excitement will be. I’m having both my boyfriend and the roommates boyfriend over for scary movies!

There’s a rock in my boot… The highlight of my day so far has been trying to fish that out without taking the boot off. Oh, wait, maybe a customer? Or they’re headed to Tim Horton’s... Nope, not my customer. At this rate, I’ll catch up on all the YouTube I have yet to watch. Well, it’s only noon, so we’ll see.

Three in the afternoon and still not a whole lot. One real customer and I know him so…

I had two customers today. And one made me almost cry. Super not into that, but what do you do? Anyway, time to stop at the grocery store, grab the last few things we need, and then party! I mean, as much of a party as watching scary movies and drinking pop goes.

First movie, Candyman. Tony Todd is a great actor and I’m surprised I’ve never seen that movie before. An interesting concept and THE BEES! All around, good movie.

Second movie of the night, Night of the Living Dead. More Tony Todd I know, and a good idea. I got to show the roommate why I made the “solid doors” joke. All around, good time.

Last movie for us, As Above, So Below. What an interesting movie! Roommate’s boyfriend recommended it and my god what a good idea! It was like, creepy, suspenseful and I hadn’t seen it, so I needed a protection shoulder to hide behind. Scary movies are great! Only thing, I had to look the ending up because it seemed to, happy? Yeah, that’s probably the best way to describe it. All around good movie though and I’m glad it was recommended!

That’s it though, I’m tired. No kids came around but that’s probably a good thing. Thanks for coming with me! Talk soon!

Today Starts Renos

Advertisements

I know I’ve been talking about them for a couple weeks, but today is where everything really starts. This morning I’m going to the bank to get a loan to start powering through the renovations I have to do. Because it’s this morning that I have that meeting, I’m going to share the verdict and where I’m starting with everything.

No matter what, I’ve got a guy coming in on the second for the roommates door. That’s a definite. After that I should wash all the walls in my place and repaint / fill in what I messed up on last time. I painted and redid about half the place with the help of my roommate and a restoration crew made up of the ex’s family. The closet is the only room I don’t go into much right now. But I’m still going to double check the walls.

So, that didn’t go the way I wanted. Got to pay some debts before I’m allowed to get this loan. Woo… So, starting small, going to do this on my own if I can. Just means the kitchen is going to have to wait for now.

Either way, the new door will be covered, and I’m going to probably need to quit eating out entirely. I can’t do that though, I’ll just cut back hard and save tons. I’m not worried though, I’ve got no reason to worry. My dad used to way, “if you stress about it, you’ll worry twice as much,” and I don’t know if I took that to heart as a kid, or if I just don’t anxiety. But whatever, no complaints.

Sorry there’s no pictures, but I’ve been super busy and have nothing new. That’s it for today, have a good one and be safe out there! Thanks for reading!

That Time of Year Again

Advertisements

On Friday it snowed. I know, that word. I went back and looked and I didn’t talk about the snow last year? Normally the first snowfall of the year brings joy. I however hate winter and the holiday season. Now, I’m not totally sure if it’s PMS or I’m actually The Grinch, but I am against most of everything right now. Supposedly next week temperatures reach almost eleven on the positive side.

It’s now Tuesday and the high for today is about six, which is nice. That’s more fall weather than what we had for the past couple of days. The snow is going to start melting and walking to work will be much safer. People who don’t, or can’t in some occasions, stop at crosswalks, and ice patches make getting around difficult sometimes. When the weather gets bad, my family starts calling cop cars with their lights on “Christmas Lights”, so there’s those too. I’m mostly just saying vehicles are dangerous.

The view out my bedroom window the other day

Since spending the past couple days in the snow, I’ve been kind of enjoying it. I don’t know what it is, but walking to and from work is kind of super peaceful. My headphones are out for warranty so I’ve made that trip with the background noise of the highway. Watching the road and the snow falling is a lot more pleasant. I’m pretty sure, after a couple more snowfalls, I’ll secretly love winter and whatnot. The snow has definitely been inspiring too. I’ve got a couple shorts I’ve been trying to work on since Friday.

Walking through the snow is also a great workout. You either have to lift you legs like, twenty centimeters off the ground with every step, or drag the snow. By the new year, my legs are going to be so strong. I say that, I don’t really measure my strength ever, and at this point, I’m rambling. My bad. But yeah, snow! I’m also going to go skating this year, I’ve made that promise to myself.

But yeah, that’s all I’ve got for today. Stay warm and safe out there! Oh, and check out this adorable picture of Midna! Thanks!
