Boxing Day

I’m so over the Christmas season… The 25th was so unnecessary and today is going to be as busy as Christmas eve was! I get paid tomorrow, and then again on Tuesday. Any debt I have left will be paid, and I’ll be on my way toward a down payment on my new house!

In the “boxing day” spirit, I’m checking out all the sales. Looking at the camera I really wanted, and some extra gifts for the family. – Camera I Like
I’ve already take my tree down and put it away for another year. With the possibility of moving, I didn’t buy any lights so cleanup was super easy. And might I add, wrapping paper is such a waste.

I’m only working a half shift today, so I get to go home and make some potatoes!
On that note, a friend of mine is making her own recipe book and I thought that was amazing, so I’m going to steal that idea and claim it as my own. So far I have my chicken and roasted potatoes in it, but I know I have a killer cheese sauce recipe somewhere that I’m going to add to it.
Besides cooking recipes, I think I’ll add crocheting patterns to it as well. I make a lot of blankets, so I just think it will help my brain having them all somewhere.

My next post will probably be the last one of the year, but I honestly don’t know what to talk about. I’ve done an accomplishments. Oh, maybe like a new years resolution kind of thing. Man, sometimes I am so smart, that’s a lie really. I haven’t totally thought the idea of resolutions though, guess you’ll have to tune in Saturday to find out what I come up with!

And as always, thanks for reading!

Christmas Eve

So we’re here finally. I’m working the next few days, so I may be late with the posts.
Traditions are weird aren’t they?
Having a tree covered in lights and ornaments, presents wrapped in miles of paper.
Turkey? Who actually likes turkey? Well, I’m sure someone does, but I am not that person.
I dunno, I think it’s because I’ve been working retail for so long. To me, the whole thing just screams consumerism.
Maybe I won’t get any customers today and I’ll get to read my book all day.
Or I’ll get stupid busy and make good money!
Probably not, but whatever.

I think I’m going to start some new traditions of my own.
Baking! There has to be baking!
Maybe a small present or two, nothing crazy.
I’m more of a “I saw this, thought of you and bought it for you” kind of person anyway.
I do like my little tree though, so I’ll keep that for sure.

My tree!

Got any fun, or even sure weird traditions of your own? I’d love to know!
I know this post is short, but I still love you! And I hope tomorrow treats you well and is safe!
Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful holiday!

Some People

Nov 25th
I’m on the bus and my god, some people. This one guy is on the phone with someone and he just keeps swearing. Like bud, relax. Save that profanity for somewhere else please. I’m a loud person myself but I’m not cussing everywhere like I own the place, that’s rude. I’m frustrated. Even when more people get on the bus, he hasn’t stopped. Blerg… I even have made eye contact with him on multiple occasions like dude, relax.

I Took this Picture.

Nov 29th
I’m such an embarrassment! I stood up to get ready to get off the bus and spun around crashing into some people. I SUCK! Ugh *starts crying*

Dec 1st
Not so Bus but still Adventure! I was at Starbucks with a friend, and it’s about 7:30pm right? I’m sitting, we’re chatting, just typical coffee shop etiquette, when this guy, about late forties, starts getting loud with the lady behind the counter. She’s trying to apologize and calm this nutcase out, but he’s just getting louder. I’ve worked customer service for almost ten years now, and hearing the phrase “I’m a customer, I’m always right” just triggers my bitch mode. So I told my friend, “one second, I’ve got to go get in line” and marched over to the counter behind asshole customer guy. I’m standing behind this guy for like, ten minutes more like two and I decided I was going to cut this guy off. I asked “how late are you open till?” Cause now it’s about 8pm. Now that I’ve said something, this guy decides he’s going to in my face calling me rude for cutting him off, which to be fair I did do. My reply “she’s doing her job, calm down man”. After being all huffy and puffy, dickhead left all pouty. No matter how many years I work with the public, I will never understand customers.

I Also Took this Picture!

Dec 11th
Another asshole at Starbucks! Guy was trying to buy a box of loose leaf tea, and there’s only one till open which has a customer already. Guy gets impatient and throws a $10 bill down and tries to leave. A staff member asked him to wait a moment because they have to scan the product and that it would only take a second. That makes sense! Just wait a second, and then their inventory isn’t messed and you can get your change, right? Apparently not. This guy is so upset, he tosses the box at the person behind the counter, and then gets confused on why he’s now being asked to leave. Like buddy, you literally THREW PRODUCT and expect to not be kicked out?

Dec 12th
Bussing is insane. People are so bizarre! The bus people were normal this time around, in fact my bus had six total passengers for the whole ride, but living where I do, weather is garbage. With the weather being terrible, people are driving like complete idiots. Constant switching between lanes without using turning signals, accidents on every block, it’s like people see snow and legitimately forget how to drive! I’m baffled!

I’m Getting Good at this Picture Thing!

It Ain’t Much
But I’m not planning on riding the bus anymore this year, just because I don’t have much reason to go into town. I asked for bus tickets for Christmas, so hopefully I get to ride it a lot more come the new year. I enjoy travelling and seeing the road, and with my car still broken, bussing is all I have. Bussing and retail, man do they change your view on the world. Humans are such interesting creatures! Oh, and before I forget, Blessed Yule! Thank you for coming along on all my adventures! And safe travels!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this today!

What I Accomplished this Year

2019 has been an odd year for sure. Work has been all over the place, my memory has given out on me, and I’m trying to sell the house I grew up in. Today, I want to talk about all the highlights and maybe tell a couple stories.

One of the major things I did was start this blog. Having impulse purchased the domain, and jumped head first into something without any planning or idea on what I was going to do, this blog has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Writing almost every day, interacting with so many new people, and really finding my way in the world are just some of the things this blog has given me.

For those who don’t know, my memory is messed. I have lost way more than I want. A decent amount stuff prior to about four years ago is just gone. At first that frightened me, but now I’ve kind got over it now. So I’ve been rummaging through old diaries and year books trying to remember some things, but to no avail. At this point, I’m just going to have to accept my memory troubles and move on.

My attempt at a novel is slowly coming together, and that’s pretty exciting! I wrote and shared a short story. – Link to That – And overall I’ve really improved on my writing. Now I just have to read more and I’d be all set. I’ve seen different bloggers take pieces or their blog and turn them into an eBook, and I think that might be something I’ll look into for a project for next year.

2020 is going to be an interesting year for sure. Hopefully it goes uphill hard, unlike everything since 2012. The roaring twenties are going to be fun! Thanks for coming along on this adventure, and I hope that this year was kind to you. May next year be as well!

And as always…
Thanks for reading!

Scheduling Change

So, the new year is almost here. (Literally two weeks until new years…) And with that, I’m going to change up my schedule. I’ve applied at a couple places, looking to get real hours and pay, and with that I need to adjust my blogging schedule too.
I blog with WordPress, which has been amazing, and it has a neat feature where it shows me my most popular day and time of day for foot traffic. After looking over that, I’ve learned that Thursday and 12:00pm are my most successful overall. With that, I’m going to cut down my posting to Thursday for sure will get a post every week. Throughout the week, I may make a bonus post or two that could be shorter, or even just because I wanted to say “hi” to everyone.
The Thursday posts will also grow in length, not just quick blerbs. I’m hoping to make more meaningful posts, and quality ones too. I’ll try and keep my posting time, so twelve in the afternoon, the usual for even off day posts. But, I am super lazy sometimes, so we’ll see. I have faith I can keep it up.

I’m almost done the first draft of my novel that has taken forever, so come the next draft, I’m going to hopefully start posting bits for thoughts and critiques. I’ll save those posts for Thursday’s just because novel size would take awhile. I’d only go piece by piece, but still.
I’m also hoping to get my computer built soon so I can start photo editing for my blog and just making a few extra bucks on the side even. Really, I’m just a hustler who doesn’t like being bored.

This scheduling update won’t take place until January. The first happens to be a Wednesday, so I’ll more than likely post a small update and then start strong for the second. I’m excited for the new year. I’ve already made a dent in my debt, and house hunting is fun, but it’s going to have to sit on the back burner for awhile. But at the rate I’m going, next year I’ll be able to actually buy something!

I’m still going to keep my social media updated, and I’m going to continue to make improvements on my site. So stay tuned!
On a side note, I don’t have too much snow this year, which is a bit of a bummer, but I’ll live. Anything you want me to talk about in particular for the new year? Something like resolutions, or going the extra mile to be green? Maybe? Any tips on widgets or themes that look nice, give me comment or a DM even! – Twitter Link – I know for sure I want to make a signature instead of just typing out my name every time. So I’ve gotta learn to do that. I’m sure Photoshop and a good enough camera will make that happen.

But yeah, that’s my scheduling change laid out for you. For me really, you’re more likely to remember than I am. And as always, thank you for stopping by and being the awesome person you are!
And thanks for reading!

Digital Cleanup

Having a laptop again, and an awesome thumb drive from Black Friday sales, I’ve decided to clean up my phone and digital footprint. A lot of my social media I made while still in middle school, which was almost ten years ago now, so I’ve decided to do a purge of sorts for the incoming new year. There’s a lot I have to clean, so this post is going to be an overview of what I did, as well as screenshots of extra cringy crap I find, ya know, since I hate myself and want to immortalize is on here forever.

First, my Twitter. – This One – Now, I saw that one because awhile back, I found the one I made when I was actually fresh into grade seven. That was awful. I’ve since deleted it, but there’s a good story to it, it’s a longer read and I’m sorry in advance.
My phone logged me out of my twitter, which happens right? So I tried logging back in with the email I thought it was, and go a whole different Twitter. The picture was of my fresh fourteen with my hair in braids looking terrible. But this was very much mine, I was tagging friends I had, and complaining about teachers; it was my old Twitter. So I decided I was going to update some information, just in case I wanted this later, and it locked me out! Said I was too young when I made the account, which was totally fair. So in the proving who I am, I wrote on the picture, “You can delete this, I’m just going to when you give it back. I’ve since made a new one.” Nope, I got it back, they just deleted everything from the years I was too young to use the platform. Cool, I think? So I just deleted it myself.
So with that, I’ve decided to clean up my new one. I’ve tried my best to use it for blog posts, and for supporting YouTubers and streamers I enjoy. Less cringe on this front, hopefully anyway. We’ll see later down the road I guess.

Next is my Instagram. – This Basic Selfie Collection – Going through and actually looking at it, there are more cat pictures and blog updates than selfies now. I think that’s quite the accomplishment! Shadow is just so photogenic, and I was trying to document my trips I was going on. Fitting how my first picture is of my tree in the front yard, when it’s covered in snow it looks like a Christmas tree. Overall, there wasn’t a lot to clean there. What’s next?

Oh right, Pinterest could use some TLC. – This mess – I fixed the hyperlink to match my Twitter, which I should do the same to Instagram. But now there’s the boards. This is going to take forever. Just one board took two hours to organize. Just kill me now. Onto the second board that needs help, and I’m hating myself more and more. This is ass. It’s going to look amazing when I’m done though! If I ever get there.
After another three hours, I quit. I’ll chip away at it and clean it up later. Maybe when I have a bottle of wine to spare, but for right now, that can just burn.

I guess my Patreon counts as a digital thing I use doesn’t it? Well, I only have like four things on there, so I’ll leave it alone.
Same with my PayPal. Those can be left to just keep on keeping on. – PayPal and Patreon

I guess I should include my Tumblr. Technically it’s part of this grouping. – Link – That’s actually more of a mess than my Pinterest. So I’ll just unfollow blogs and move on. Maybe clean up a link or two.

Now, onto the real monster, my cell phone. (Dramatic horror music in the background intensifies) I have thousands of screenshots saved on my phone, which I’m going to either save on my computer, or just delete cause I’ve saved them somewhere else.

My cell phone wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Just deleted a few folders and some contacts. With my memory being ruined, I don’t even know half of the pictures nor contacts in my phone anymore.

And that’s really it I can think of right now. I frequently clean my Facebook so I don’t have to worry, and I can’t think of anything else I have. So, I guess I did it? I don’t feel any different at the moment, but I know it’ll hit me soon enough. Thanks for coming with on this adventure!
And thanks for reading!

New Adult Skills

Holy snap I learned how to budget, and it was about time too! I sat down with a friend and Google Sheets (which is Microsoft Excel but by Google and free) and some Starbucks. We put together what I make versus what I spend and laid it all out. Being able to see what I’m doing and that I really shouldn’t be buying as much random crap as I do opened my eyes.

Everything is laid out in colourful ways and bold letters and it’s just amazing. I can clearly tell that I should pick up and extra shift or two this month in order to buy this one extra present for my boyfriend without being tight on money. But the best thing, is I can see how bad my Starbucks problem actually is, and for this month, so far I’m just over $5. That isn’t bad at all!

The way it’s all set up, I can see how long it will take to pay of debts, build a real savings account and even get my car back on the road. Things that were overwhelming and bringing me down are now being turned into bite sized problems I can destroy in real time! I feel so accomplished with this. Plus, it’s a skill that not enough people have, so I feel special in a sense too.

If you’re a visual person like myself, I honestly recommend taking an hour out of your day and really making a real budget for yourself. Finding where the money is going can help you manage it better, but also make the conscience decision to eat better by not spending as much out, or not buying that lipstick because you don’t really need it. Although with me it’s Magic the Gathering cards and not make-up, but that’s not the point. Watch out for the little things, like Netflix and Disney+, it can bite you in the rear down the road.

I wish I discovered this sooner, I honestly do. My eyes are open to the idea of actually being able to buy a house one day, or even a Doubling Season. – This Thing – And it’s taken a huge amount of stress off my shoulders: being able to see everything as reasonable goals is actually amazing.

But That’s Not All!
Managing stress! That’s another huge thing I’ve been learning to do! The past couple weeks have been a lot for me, I’ve been struggling to eat, sleep, and even been struggling at work. Sitting down and tackling it with friends and loved ones has really helped show me that every stressful situation can be broken down into bite sized pieces, making it manageable again.

Overall, I feel lighter, and happyish again. I’m able to talk about how I’m feeling and I can say that I wasn’t okay. My new skills are going to be a huge help come 2020 and I feel ready for anything life throws at me. Thanks for stopping by today!
And thanks for reading!
